Alameda Health System Catering Services Coordinator in Oakland, California
SUMMARY: The Catering Services Coordinator is responsible for food preparation for cafe and catered events, also coordinate food and set up for catering events/functions for the hospital. Responsibilities include food supply rotation, storage, and appropriate disposition; data collection and participation in performance improvement; some inventory and food ordering, preparation, clean-up and sanitation within the department, functional guidance to Food Service Workers of catered meetings and functions. Act as Lead Cook on a regular basis, instruct food service workers on set-up, delivery and final product, order produce daily, catering consultations for all HGH/HCP departments. Performs related duties as required.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: NOTE: The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification, however, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.
Receive catering orders via e-mail and confirm/respond to requests in a timely manner. Meet with Department representatives for consultations, as needed for menu selection and other details. Determine event specific decisions on food choice and display.
Daily decisions on what salads to prepare and what produce is ordered for patient care and HCP.
Act as lead cook for catering events; prepare meat for specialty salads as needed.
Orders produce for Highland hospital and for HCP daily usage; orders produce for cooks at HCP; consult with Chef Manager on final orders and/or changes.
Check-in with cooks at HGH and HCP to make sure they have their produce orders and what they are going to make that day; give advice on food selection, preparation and assist as cook as needed.
Meet with Food Service Worker responsible for assisting with catering set-up; deliver Orders and set-up special event orders; check with HCP food service workers to make sure all catering orders are set up for the day.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Additional education or training in the food industry is desirable. Minimum Experience: Five years of overall experience in hospital food service, catering or other food service/customer service position, of which two years experience in ordering food product and inventory control experience. Required Licenses/Certifications: ServSafe Certificate.
