Alameda Health System SLH Tech - Rad/CT Lead in San Leandro, California

SUMMARY: The SLH Tech – Rad/CT Lead relieves the Department Leader by performing the following duties: coordinating the work of the department by performing required paperwork and record keeping. Lead technologist will review and provide coverage and ensure technologist schedules have the adequate staffing for all shifts. Performs related duties as required.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: NOTE: The following are the duties performed by employees in

this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties

listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.

  1. Selecting and operating equipment as directed. Positions patient on examining table and adjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by Physician. Operates mobile X-ray equipment in operating room, ED, or at patient's bedside. Moves X-ray equipment into specified position and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors such as time and distance.

  2. Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to staff and patient. Practices appropriate sterile technique to prevent cross contamination.

  3. Explains procedures to patients to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.

  4. Assists Physician in administration of opaque media for IV contrast as well as barium fluoroscopy studies.

  5. Maintains department equipment and supplies in orderly and clean manner, obtaining and returning supplies as needed.

  6. Follows established image processing procedures and techniques.

  7. Maintains adequate records as directed.

  8. Ensures proper staffing for technical staff by checking posted schedule and informing department leader of potential staffing issues. Assists with coverage of department as needed when there is insufficient staffing.

  9. Is responsible for ACR accreditation standards for San Leandro CT Department.

  10. Assists department leader in maintaining accreditation for MQSA in Mammography Department.

  11. Assists with collection, distribution and policies regarding Radiation department badges.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Associates Degree (AA) or equivalent from two year college or technical school (Certified Radiologic Technologist Program).

Preferred Experience: Six months to one year related experience and/or training preferred.

Required Licenses/Certifications: Current Radiology Technologist certification (CRT and ARRT) and California state license.

Required Licenses/Certifications: BLS - Basic Life Support Certification - issued by AHA-American Heart Association.
